Show Jumping takes place both indoors and outdoors and can be enjoyed all year round. The courses are made up of coloured fences which can be easily knocked down if they are hit. Competitors will get faults if they knock a fence down, refuse or run out. If you manage to jump a clear round, you will go through to the jump-off, this is a shortened course which you have to jump as fast as you can as it is timed. The winner of the class is the horse/pony and rider with the least faults and the fastest time in the jump-off.
Most Pony Club rallies usually include jumping, so this is a good place to see if you like it. Eggesford pony club hold a variety of competitions, rallies and training sessions throughout the year which include Show Jumping. There are two main show jumping competitions in pony club the area’s and the championships (the top two teams at the area qualify for the championships). There are three sections for show jumping Novice (90-95cm), Intermediate (1-1.5meters) and Open (N/E 1.10 meters). There are also many team competitions held throughout the year for all ages.
